GALLERY SHOWS / EXHIBITIONS / RESIDENCIES
Art Machines
was a gallery show in 2004, held at the Pawtucket Rhode Island visitor center gallery.
Each artist was given a box to add interactive displays.
Each box had slots on a 4 sides allowing for quick interactive controls.
The visitors ultimately had the freedom to manipulate the displays as they wished.
The artists produced beautiful works. The show was a hit!Stay tuned for the next installation of similar interactive event!
Alaskan Residencies
Dan Butterworth has worked with Inuit communities in Alaska (Atqasuk, Shaktoolik, and Unalakleet). These residencies were organized by the state of Alaska. These in turn led to a trip to Pelly Bay, Canada. Here Dan showed a group how to make carved marionettes, how to string them and manipulate them. These trips have been a wonderful learning experience for all involved. There is hope that eventually a puppet show of Kivioq will be completed and can travel the arctic. Puppeteers from a number of communities could keep the stories alive.
